Discussing Calvin Klein Colognes: Are They Worth It?

One of the biggest debates in the beauty industry is, are luxury items worth it? This question is a bit too vague to answer in one article, but we are going to narrow it down and look at whether luxury perfumes are worth it. Which is another vague question with many contradictory answers.

As Tatiana Estevez mentioned above, there is very little that distinguishes a cheap and expensive perfume. The brand and the presentation of the perfume often add a lot to the price. Whether a perfume is ‘worth’ the price tag will vary from person to person. 

Calvin Klien – are the colognes with it? 

To discover the worth of Calvin Klien colognes we will need to answer two main questions: are they expensive colognes? And are they worth paying that price? 

Are they expensive? 

Let’s start with answering the question, are Calvin Klien’s colognes expensive? 

There are a few things to take into consideration. Firstly, colognes tend to be a lot cheaper than perfumes. Secondly, Calvin Klien is a high-end, rather than luxury brand – therefore we would expect their colognes to come in at around the $50-60 range per bottle. (We calculated that number looking at what their competitors charge). 

Interestingly, the average Calvin Klien cologne comes in at around $25 per bottle. Even more, interestingly, the cologne comes in big bottles – averaging 200ml per bottle. If you were to compare this to cologne from Jo Malone, for that much fragrance you would be paying $200+. 

So, are they expensive, considering that these colognes are popular and considered high-end – NO! These colognes come in at a great price. 

Are they worth it? 

The answer to this question really comes down to personal preference. However, if you find a Calvin Klien cologne with a scent you enjoy then pick it up! You’ll struggle to find a bargain like that from anyone else, let alone from a high-end name brand like Calvin Klien.

The one area that we feel Calvin Klien falls short in is their packaging. They do look like something you’d see on the nightstand of a 16 year old boy. That being said, if coming in an ugly bottle makes this cologne 80% cheaper than its competitors then we are more than happy to buy it. 

We could decant the cologne into a nicer bottle or hide the bottle behind something more aesthetically pleasing.

Whilst we do think that Calvin Klien’s colognes are well-priced and worth the money… we all love a bargain. Check out these tips on how to save money on colones.

Most companies will offer some sort of discount code year-round, and these can be a great way of saving a little money. There are many apps and browser extensions that keep track of active discount codes from thousands of websites. The browser extensions will even automatically apply the codes at checkout for you.

As our shopping habits change, many retailers are offering better prices in their physical shops to drive physical footfall. Checking out your local high street perfume store, or the brands counter at the department store may lead to some surprising bargains 

3. Use price checker apps to alert you when the cologne goes on sale 

Get yourself an app that will alert you when the price of an item you’re interested in has changed. You’d be surprised at how frequently brands have sales, particularly online. Even luxury brands will hold regular 10-25% off sales.
