Homebuilders or homeowners mainly focus on new paintings, flooring, cabinets, etc. while building a house or improving the existing one. Most of them overlook the finishing hardware touches. We have to be careful while choosing door hardware. Today, we will discuss some important factors regarding the door hardware that you can follow while purchasing it.

At first, we have to calculate the exact measurement of everything before buying any sets. If you do not get the actual size earlier, you might buy the wrong sized knob. You have to measure the cross bore, bore hole, backset, and thickness of your door.

Cross Bore Hole: It is the small hole that is located on the edge of a door and usually one inch in diameter.

Bore Hole: It is the place where the knob is mounted. The standard measurement of this is 2 â…› inches in diameter.

Backset: It is the distance from the center of the large bore hole to the edge of a door. Its standard size is 2 ⅜ inches or 2 ¾ inches. At present, most of the doors have a 2 ⅜ inch backset.

Thickness: Interior doors are usually 1 ⅜ inches thick and exterior doors are 1 ¾ inches thick.

Here, the door can be locked or unlocked simply via a turn of the handle with the interior pack. Similarly, the exterior pack has a handle and a lock outside the door and it will require a person to unlock it before entering.

At this stage, I would like to mention some interior handle sets as well. There are many interior locksets available in Builder Outlet and you can choose one according to your preference.
